Electric bike motor

To move from one place to another, in a comfortable, economical way and without damaging the environment, a good option is the use of a electric bicycle. Although it is a motor vehicle, it does not produce polluting gases, so it is totally ecological. In this section, we will place a electric motor in kit in an old mountain bike, to facilitate the displacement, especially in difficult journeys.

In the market we will find different types of bike engines. When purchasing ours, we will have to take into account the bicycle model to which we want to incorporate the engine, the size of the wheels and the power we want to obtain with the system.

Step by step to place an electric motor on a bike

Step 1
The first thing we are going to do is apply a lubricant oil on the nuts and bolts that are rusty, so that the different parts of the bicycle can be released more easily.

Step 2
Next, we completely disassemble the bike, being careful not to damage any part.

Step 3
Before installing the engine, we will take the opportunity to paint the metal surface. For that, we first pass a sheet of fine grain sandpaper and remove the dust produced.

Step 4
We can already give color to both the frame and the handlebar, using a spray paint, in this case, black. When applying the product, do it in a uniform manner and respecting the minimum distance indicated by the manufacturer.

Step 5
We wait for the paint to dry and we put the chain, which we have greased previously, in its position. We also put the brakes that, in our case are new, and install the wheels.

Step 6
The next step consists of set the control unit under the saddle. The cables of the rest of the elements that make up the electrical system of the motor will be connected to that device.

Step 7
We introduce the bottom bracket, we add the sensor that will detect our pedaling, and place the pedals.

Step 8
Let's go with him now power control. We put the device on the handlebar, following the manufacturer's instructions; Thus, we will always have it at hand: either to activate or deactivate the engine or to vary its power.

Step 9
Next, we put the shift lever and the brake lever on the handle.

Step 10
It is the turn of the electric connections. After connecting both the engine and the power control to the control unit, we place the sensor and throttle cables and plug them into the same device.

Step 11
We fix the battery holder in the bike frame, insert the power supply and connect it to the control unit.

Step 12
We store the connections in the bag where the control unit is housed and close the zipper. Finally, we fasten the rest of the wiring with each other and the structure of the bike, with simple plastic flanges.

Step 13
Thanks to this electric motor kit, we can travel by bicycle, in any environment and with little effort. The engine that, only active when pedaling, you can turn it off, in case you want to do without your help. The battery, meanwhile, is equipped with a cable with a conventional plug, to be recharged in any outlet.
